OWL: Sexuality Education 
at Bellingham Unitarian Fellowship

K-2nd grade & 4-6th grade will be offered during the 2018/19 church year!

Honest, accurate information about sexuality changes lives. It dismantles stereotypes and assumptions, builds self-acceptance and self-esteem, fosters healthy relationships, improves decision making, and has the potential to save lives. For these reasons and more, Bellingham Unitarian Fellowship and First Congregational Church of Bellingham, United Church of Christ are teaming up to offer our community a comprehensive Lifespan Our Whole Lives (OWL) program.  

Development appropriate OWL is offered at six levels:  

k-2nd grade - September 30-November 18, 2018

Supports parents in educating children about birth, babies, bodies and families. Following a Mandatory Parent Meeting and Parent/Child Orientation, the 8 sessions engage children with stories, songs and activities. Classes will be held during Sunday Service, Children are required to be registered.

4-6th grade - January 6 -March 10, 2019 

 10-session program following a  Mandatory Parent Meeting and Parent/Child Orientation. Learning about and discussing the physical and emotional changes of puberty. Participants will read It's Perfectly Normal by Robie H. Harris, and examine topics such as values and sexuality, communication and decision making. Classes will be held during Sunday Service, Children are required to be registered.

 7-8TH GRADE - fall 2019
A sexuality Education Program for youth that models and teaches caring, compassion, respect, and justice. A holistic program that moves beyond the intellect to address the attitudes, values, and feelings that youth have about themselves and the world. 

10-12th grade - Winter 2020

Using a comprehensive approach, this program helps senior-high youth gain the knowledge, life principles and skills they need to express their sexuality in life-enhancing ways. 


Helps participants navigate young adulthood with accurate information, increased self-knowledge, enhanced safety and strengthened interpersonal skills.

ADULT - Spring 2019 

Using values, communication skills and spirituality as starting points, this program explores sexuality issues for adults of all ages. Builds understanding of healthy sexual relationships, affirms diversity and helps participants accept and affirm their own sexuality throughout their lives.
